Crazy/Awkward Tour Interview with Laury Falter
Q: Most of the books I read and write have steamy love scenes in them so I’m curious, what do you find sexy?
A: Oh, the tease. Definitely the tease. It’s all about the buildup. It’s that tickle of excitement, the short intake of air, the inhibited, secret glance between lovers, the quiet sigh as they touch. That’s what keeps me interested.
Q: Create a cocktail based on your book. What is its name? What’s in it? How does it knock us off our asses?
A: Fallen In Love. 1/3 Chambord liqueur, 1/3 Southern Comfort, and 1/3 Sweet and Sour mix with a splash of cream. The Chambord creates a sweet raspberry flavor (which is sweetly refreshing just like Eran), the Southern Comfort represents the southern city where the novel is set (New Orleans), the Sweet and Sour mix reflects the passionately combative romance between our hero and heroine, and the cream is to make all that liquor go down smoothly.
Q: What is the most creative tool (one you actually touch) you use when writing a story?
A: A glass. Sitting on its long, thin stem is a bulbous top filled with red liquid that, when consumed, releases the pent up creative passion harboring inside me. Anyone want to guess what the red liquid is?
Q: Your bike is in the shop. The repairman offers you three temporary replacements: a) a pogo stick, b) a skateboard, c) a garbage truck. Which do you choose and how do you rock it?
A: C! Definitely C! So long as that garbage truck is cleaned inside and out to a pristine shine, I’m all in for that. Why? Have you ever seen the bulk behind that kind of a megaton truck? I’d own the road. ☺
Q: Describe your happy dance.
A: One arm flailing, the other holding a cell phone to call everyone I know, and both feet competing for longest leaps in the air.
Q: Name one odd thing on your desk.
A: A pair of cannonballs that behave as bookends (the bottoms are shaved off so they don’t roll). They’re authentic, too. Makes me wonder if they’ve been used…
Q: Name one thing on the back of your car.
A: A dog charity bumper sticker that says “Train me…Walk me…Love me…Rescue me…”
Q: What song do you sing in the shower?
A: McDonald’s jingles. I know them all. Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese…Big Mac, Filet O’ Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fries, Ice Coke, Thick Shakes, Sundaes and Apple Pies…The beef stays hot, the cool stays crisp, put it together you can’t resist… Strangely, I never actually eat there. ☺
Q: What’s the oddest thing you’ve coated in chocolate?
A: Okay, while I didn’t actually do the coating, I did eat the thing. It was a roasted grasshopper, coated in chocolate, from my aunt’s foreign travels. For the record, it was not good.
Q: What’s the oddest thing you’ve ever burnt?
A: The soft fleshy inside of my arm, near my armpit. When I was younger, I tried to help my mom with ironing, knocked over the iron, and somehow with horrifying elegance ended up positioned so that it landed on my skin, where the tip searing a rather distinct V. Truly, no good deed goes unpunished.
Ooh, ouch. Thanks for visiting! 🙂
