15 Movies That Really Stuck With Me

DYI Queen Piper Trace (I wanted to type that OTHER abbreviation she goes by, but I don’t know her well enough for that) tagged me to name 15 movies that really stuck with me.

Thirteen of these came pretty quickly and then I struggled with the last few. The first two movies on the list I covered in shows/movies that scarred me for life. Some of the others came from My 13 Favorite Actors. *cracks knuckles* Here we go:

Dancer in the Dark

I cried for HOURS. Like sobbed. I can’t think about this, hear the music, or even think about the damn music without crying to this day. This movie wrecked me.

The Exorcist

The one movie the regularly creeps me the hell out. I’m not even religious.

Fight Club

I discovered I’m a bit subversive apparently, and I love that the twist took me by surprise (which is hard to do). The extra Easter eggs had me watching repeatedly. I’m not a repeat movie watcher, so that tells you something.

This is real horror. Not gore, but the things people are capable of. And no, I don’t actually like Brad Pitt.

V for Vendetta

Again with the subversiveness.

The Matrix

(The first one) It blew me away when it came out, and made me think about reality in a different way (no, I don’t think we actually live in simulations).

Steel Magnolias

Family, friends, the South, illness – this one wrecked me, too.

Pee Wee’s Big Adventure

This movie made me feel like it was okay to be weird, and to be okay with being weird…if that makes sense.

Edward Scissorhands

Poor Edward. The message on this one is a bit bittersweet, but it has stuck with me.

The Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin

Probably why I write romance.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula

The Gary Oldman one *swoon* love immortal is a bit appealing.

Moulin Rouge

I’m starting to sense a pattern here in these romantic movies on my list 😀

I salivated over the stills/shots from the movie a year before it released, and though I was mildly disappointed it wasn’t as amazing as I’d imagined it would be, it was still pretty damn amazing visually. This movie is like a moving painting.

Killing Me Softly

This is the guilty pleasure movie on my list. This is so, so bad lol. The acting is meh, the story meh, you can kind of guess what’s going to happen from the beginning, but I can watch this one again and again and still love it (plus there are some HOT scenes). The super possessive, borderline psycho hero just…I don’t know, I dig it. If you’ve read the book, you know the borderline isn’t so borderline. It certainly helps that Joseph Fiennes is in it.

Ever After

This was the first fairytale retelling I happened upon where the heroine saved herself and didn’t actually need the prince (but got him anyway, or perhaps got him because she didn’t need him).

And last: Quirky 80s comedies I can’t resist watching when they come on – Ghostbusters, Goonies, The Princess Bride

What are the movies that stuck with YOU? <3
